The New Generation Theatre Experience
In this fun and supportive workshop we utilize theatre tools to build leadership skills for teens and young adults. The New Generation Theatre Experience is a workshop and performance experience for students between the ages of 13 and 21. It is an exciting and fun theatrical course and rehearsal process which is run like a theatre company in the European ensemble style. In NGTE young people attain skills and experience through professional caliber training in acting, voice, movement, playwriting and improvisation. The students work in a supportive and collaborative environment to study, develop original work and explore contemporary and classical material. We also touch on Applied Theatre techniques including Drama Therapy, Playback, Sociodrama, and Theatre Of The Oppressed. The unique voice of each student is cultivated and encouraged to shine.
We devote our time to three aspects of the work: ensemble, training and performance
First we work to build an ensemble then we build a common theatrical vocabulary then we research and improvise and write and finally we perform the work we’ve created.
At every step of the process we are developing leadership skills and referencing the challenges of everyday life to empower and educated the participants and well as the audiences they will encounter.
